The law never stands still. Neither do we.
Staying informed as lawyers is essential. Our attorneys make it a priority to stay ahead of the curve, tracking all legal developments, new legislation, and industry trends that could impact our clients. Staying informed is not just about compliance, it’s about delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients.
When asked how they stay informed, many of our attorneys cited law journals, industry publications, and news alerts. Several also mentioned networking with peers through law groups and professional associations. These serve as opportunities to spark conversations about unexpected issues and expose them to new information.
“In these roles, I am privy to the challenges facing the legal community and often participate in conversations regarding new legislation,” said Attorney Brandon DeJesus. “This gives me a direct path to every change in the legal field that presents itself.”
Our attorneys also participate in New Jersey’s Continuing Legal Education program– not just to meet requirements, but as a chance to explore emerging changes and refine their skills. Attorney Kenneth Bozarth explained, “New Jersey’s Continuing Legal Education is also a great way to stay up to date. Due to the constantly evolving legal landscape, attorneys should be aware of any changes and understand how these changes potentially affect the client’s matter.”
Practical experience is another vital source of growth. Every case we handle provides new insights into how the law applies to real-world scenarios. “The best tool for me is the work and research I do for my clients,” said Attorney Brigit Zahler. “Whether I’m writing a brief or researching, I will always read recent Court decisions related to the area of law that I am working on.”
On top of individual efforts, we hold weekly firm-wide meetings to discuss updates, ensuring our attorneys are all as informed as possible. “We constantly have meetings as a firm to discuss ongoing issues and changes in the law, whether it is new laws, regulations recently adopted, recent Court decisions, and to make the entire firm aware of them so that we can advise our clients accordingly,” elaborated Managing Partner Christopher J. Dasti, who organizes these meetings.
At Dasti & Staiger, we believe informed attorneys lead to stronger cases and greater outcomes. Remaining up to date keeps us– and you– one step ahead.
